McAfee to Invest USD 80 Million in India Centre

Intrusion prevention and security risk management company McAfee, Inc., (McAfee) today announced its India centre would be focusing on engineering ownership of many products in India and increasing headcount significantly. The company also announced the launch of support programs which it says will help Indian customers provide inputs in developing security solutions.

McAfee committed to an investment of over USD 80 million for the centre over the next 4 years. According to McAfee, the India centre is the largest development centre for McAfee around the world. The centre will focus on research and development of security solutions and product innovation and will take ownership of some of the key security products it creates from requirements to customer release.

“The expansion of McAfee is a reflection of our continuous commitment and the track record of success in India," said George Samenuk, CEO and chairman of McAfee.

The India Centre will have over 1000 employees by end 2008, focusing on R&D, customer support, and other business critical functions, said McAfee.

The centre is expected to provide its customers Global Labs access and remote access technology and assist Indian customers in deploying their new security solutions.

McAfee will also set up a customer care team in Bangalore, a dedicated outbound telesales team to increase renewal retention, and also a customer information management team, the company said.
