Gartner Ranks Oracle as Leader in Middleware in AP

 

 

Market research group Gartner has positioned software behemoth Oracle as the fastest growing middleware vendor among the top three portal, process and middleware (PPMW) vendors in Asia Pacific in 2006.

In its recent study, “Market Share: Portal, Process and Middleware Software, Asia/Pacific and Japan, 2004-2006,” Gartner reports that Oracle’s PPMW software posted 70 percent revenue growth in Asia Pacific in 2006, grew more than two times faster than the market as a whole, gained almost two points of revenue share while its top two competitors lost share.

With a worldwide growth rate of 45 percent, Oracle is the fastest growing PPMW vendor, among the top five providers, in its Portal, Process and Middleware Software Market Share, Worldwide for 2006 report.

Gartner’s definition of the PPMW market segment includes general-purpose portal products, Business Process Management-enabling technologies, application integration and platform middleware.

According to Oracle, 90 of the Fortune 100 companies and 29 of the 30 companies making up the Dow Jones Industrial Average use Oracle Fusion Middleware to run, secure, adapt and expand their businesses

“In Asia Pacific, Oracle is gaining strong traction with customers,” said Leo Liang, Vice President of SOA Sales for Oracle Asia Pacific.

“Oracle Fusion Middleware enables customers to solve their most critical business challenges while providing a clear path to Service-Oriented Architecture.”

Oracle Fusion Middleware new wins in Q1FY08 for Asia Pacific, excluding Japan, include: AU Optronics Corporation (Taiwan), China Netcom – Hebei Branch (China), China Netcom – Shanxi Branch (China), City District Government Karachi (Pakistan), Commercial Taxes – Government of Andhra Pradesh (India), Emersion Software Systems (Australia), Jinan City Commercial Bank (China), PT Astra Honda Motor (Indonesia) and Department of Education and Training – Government of Western Australia (Australia).

During Oracle’s most recent fiscal year, Oracle enhanced a number of components of Oracle Fusion Middleware including Oracle Enterprise Content Management and Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition through internal development and strategic acquisitions. It also delivered new products - Oracle WebCenter, Oracle Business Process Analysis Suite, Oracle Communication and Mobility Server and Oracle Data Integrator - while expanding its Oracle Identity Management, Oracle SOA Suite and developer offerings, including Oracle JDeveloper.

In addition to Oracle's acquisition of content management leader Stellent, the recently acquired Tangosol and Hyperion products round out advancements made to Oracle Fusion Middleware throughout 2007.
