As online shopping grows globally, security has become an important issue. Finding ways to secure online shoppers interest, 30 countries belonging to the international economic and social-development group-Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) has said an accord on dispute resolution has been reached.
The Paris based OECD came out with a policy document and legal framework after two years of intense discussions. Among other countries, the membership of OECD includes the European countries, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Canada, the UK and US. All these countries have signed off on a legal framework intended to lead to better policing and resolution of consumer complaints, particularly in cross-border disputes involving e-commerce.
In approving the accord, the OECD countries agreed to seek ways to put the principles into action among themselves, as well as inviting non-member counties to consider the dispute-resolution policy document. |
