Trend Micro has released a security enhancement package for Windows Vista users running Trend Micro Internet Security to provide customers an optimal experience on the platform.
“Today’s consumers want to ensure their computers are working to peak performance, and they don’t want spyware and other malicious threats slowing their computers and attempting to evade security programs” said Ross Wilson, managing director of consumer products and services Trend Micro, Asia Pacific.
Trend Micro OS Protection will comprise of two enhancements-- Trend Micro Firewall Booster and Trend Micro Pre-Startup Scan.
Firewall Booster enables Trend Micro Internet Security to take advantage of Windows Vista Firewall capabilities. Protection against Web threats and unauthorized access is enhanced through updated background processes, with no customer interaction required. By helping to tackle malicious security attacks, Trend Micro Pre-Startup Scan provides customers an additional security feature that finds and eliminates hard-to-remove threats like rootkits before Windows starts, so such threats have no time to affect a computers performance or evade detection and removal.
Pre-Startup Scan works by automatically creating a restore point to back up a computer¹s system setting when initiating a scan. This feature provides end users additional control and peace of mind should they wish to undo any changes made during the Pre-Startup Scan. Two types of scan are provided: Quick Scan can take just a few minutes and checks only essential system files; Full Scan takes longer but checks all the files within a computers hard disk.
