Intoto, a provider of security software for enterprise networking equipment and CPE gateways, has rolled out the IntruProT IPS. The tool aims to allow IT managers to create security device - for free - using off-the-shelf x86 server hardware.
"To date, high-performing, enterprise-class network security has been out of the reach of many small and midsized enterprises due to cost constraints, yet just because they're small doesn't mean these companies don't have major security concerns," said Sathyan Iyengar, CEO, Intoto. "With IntruProT IPS these businesses can now receive from Intoto and its partners the same level of security, functionality and performance as the offerings we deliver for many of the world's largest enterprises, with implementation savings of 80 per cent or more compared to other IPS solutions."
"IPS systems are the next generation firewalls. With increasing complexity of exploits and vulnerabilities, small businesses are increasingly susceptible to attacks and require the same level of protection as larger companies, which means IPS deployment by small and medium sized companies must increase," said Charles Kolodgy, research director for secure content and threat management products at IDC. "IntruProT IPS, a proven offering which has been widely adopted by OEMs, provides a cost effective model for small business to deploy next generation network threat protection."
