Apple has released a security patch for the AirPort Extreme Base Station, after an alert that the vulnerability could compromise a machine.
The defect is said to attack the Base Stations that support 802.11n. The flaw relates to IPV6 traffic, which makes it a relatively low on the scale of how likely it is to be compromised, Apple said.
The company has given out instruction on the procedure of updating the patch.
The update, available for download from Apple's Web site. The update also fixes a security flaw that gives out confidential information.
"This update addresses the issue by changing the default setting to limit inbound IPv6 traffic to the local network," Apple said.
"An issue in the AirPort Disk feature allows users on the local network to view file names--but not their contents--on a password-protected disk without providing a password," Apple said.
