Microsoft will roll out five security patches Tuesday, April 10th—which is its monthly security update release. The company has been receiving flak for not offering security updates the minute a hack, exploitation or security breach has been conducted. Customers seem to be tired waiting for the patch for a month after which the exploit has been conducted.
Microsoft said “At this time no additional information on these bulletins such as details regarding severity or details regarding the vulnerability will be made available until 10 April 2007.”
Earlier last week Microsoft had issued a rare out-of-cycle patch to fix vulnerabilities in Graphics Device Interface (GDI), said Dave Marcus, security research and communications manager, McAfee Avert Labs.
Microsoft released a security advisory warning customers that a vulnerability in Windows ANI files was allowing hackers to break into computers and install malicious software. The files are used to change the mouse cursor into an hourglass icon or another animated option while a programme is busy. The so-called zero-day attack is aimed at PCs running Windows.
