SonicWALL Shipments Pass Million Mark

SonicWALL has reported that it shipped its millionth unit of appliance based solutions in network security, email sercurity, secure remote access and data backup and recovery markets on Tuesday.

SonicWALL products, services and software are distributed through its international network of approximately 10,000 channel partners and helps users worldwide protect their data from Inter-deleiverd threats.

“Our company strategy is predicated on the success of our channel partners, without whom we would not be celebrating this achievement,” said Matthew Medeiros, president and chief executive officer at SonicWALL.

“SonicWALL recognized early on that, to serve the unmet security needs of small and mid-tier businesses, a dedicated channel strategy was required.

“This dedication to our channel partners remains a core company strategy today, affecting every area of our operation.

“Reaching an installed base of one million units demonstrates the vitality of our strategy, for the channel and end-users, of creating purpose-built products that are simple to install, use and manage.

SonicWALL's network security, email security and content management appliances and their corresponding users serve as a collaborative intelligence network that provides specific information about new threats as they are experienced, enabling SonicWALL's ongoing improvement of its defenses against the malware environment.

Charles Kolodgy, senior analyst at IDC who is credited with the creation of the UTM category, commented, “Demand for appliances integrating multiple security technologies and updated threat prevention continues to rise, reflecting the changing dynamics of today’s security industry.”

Over the past three years, SonicWALL has diversified its solutions beyond its firewall VPN family, adding SSL-VPN remote access, data backup and recovery and email security to its product portfolio.

SonicWALL devices can be managed from a single location using SonicWALL Global Management System (GSM) software, which enables streamlined management of distributed security networks for IT administrators and managed services providers.

Today, GMS is used worldwide to manage networks of thousands of SonicWALL units.
