Google has plans to offer anti-piracy technologies to help all copyright holders to protect their content. "We are definitely committed to (offering copyright protection technologies)," Google Chief Executive Officer Eric Schmidt said. "It is one of the company's highest priorities," he said.
"We just reviewed that (issue) about an hour ago," Schmidt said. "It is going to roll out very soon ... It is not far away", he added.
This comes close on the heels of the new chief executive at NBC Universal, Jeff Zucker pointing fingers at video-sharing site YouTube accusing it of having neglected the effort to protect NBC's copyrighted content.
Zucker, also mentioned that YouTube has be shirking responsibility by not providing filtering for copyrighted material.
Zucker’s accusation comes right after Viacom, MTV’s parent company had asked YouTube to remove copyrighted clips from the online video source. The amount of video clips to be removed adds up to a staggering 100,000. Viacom claims that YouTube has not set up content filters that allow the copyright holders of videos to know when clips have been uploaded to the YouTube site.
