Irdeto, a provider of content security for digital TV, IPTV and mobile, has signed a service delivery agreement with Nortel that empowers Nortel to incorporate Irdeto's content security solution into its integrated IPTV solution and directly market it to customers.
Irdeto plays a key part in Nortel's IPTV ecosystem, along with Amino, Kasenna, Minerva Networks, and Tilgin. The ecosystem has been tested in Nortel's IPTV lab to meet the security requirements of service providers, the company said.
The Irdeto IPTV security solution is based on patented technology for securely routing video content via IP networks. Encryption and secure device identification help ensure that only authorised and paying customers are able to access the content, while over-the-network security upgrades help prevent content from being compromised, and by extension, revenues are protected from unauthorised access, the company said.
