Columbia, Maryland based Sourcefire has acquired open source anti-virus project ClamAV.
Sourcefire, which also owns open source network intrusion detection tool Snort, however, did not disclose the financial details of the acquisition. This was the acquisition of Sourcefire after it went public in March.
With this acquisition, Sourcefire gets complete access to all of the ClamAV project and the contents of clamav.org.
Michelle Perry, Sourcefire chief marketing officer said "ClamAV is a great technology. In many ways it’s a real parallel to Snort. "Those are two very synergistic technologies there." |
