On retail shelves, they may be rivals but when it comes to deciding the industry future, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo kiss and makeup. These three top games makers are in California to show off what they hope will be this year’s blockbuster titles in the multi-billion-dollar industry.
An E3 Media and Business Summit featuring Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony as well as game publishers such as Disney Interactive Studios and Ubisoft began today.

The gathering is a smaller version of an annual Electronic Entertainment Expo that attracted 60,000 people last year.

About 4,000 of the video game industry’s key players are meeting through Friday to make improve business and show or get previews of titles to be on the market by the Christmas holiday season.

What adds to the meeting is that Sony slashed prices of its PlayStation games to boost sales. Microsoft too hasn’t done well either. Last week it said it will spend about USD 1.15 billion in fixing its Xbox gaming consoles.
